2. TUMBLING DICE by Linda Ronstadt

The hit version of the Stones' Exile era track. From Linda's #1 Long Player Simple Dreams in 1977. Mick himself re-wrote the lyrics for Linda to sing from a female perspective.

3. BABY DON'T GO by Dwight Yoakum & Sheryl Crow

THIS WEEK in 1997: Dwight and Sheryl's cover of the Sonny & Cher classic, "Baby Don't Go" from Dwight's 1997 Long Player, Under The Covers.

4. WHO THREW THE WHISKEY IN THE WELL? by Lucky Millinder and His Orchestra feat. Wynonie Harris

#1 THIS WEEK in 1945: This was the #1 78 on the R&B charts for eight weeks starting this week in 1945. Lead vocalist Wynonie Harris was one of Elvis presley's favorites.

5. JACKIE WILSON SAID (I'M IN HEAVEN WHEN YOU SMILE) by Van Morrison

THIS WEEK in 1972: The great Van Morrison's tribute to the great Jackie Wilson. 

6. HEY HARMONICA MAN by Little Stevie Wonder

THIS WEEK in 1964: Finger-snappin', foot-stompin', hand-clappin' rarity from the Long Player, Stevie At The Beach.

American Top 40 with your host Casey Kasem, premeired July 4th 1970 on six AM stations (broadcasting in mono). Still going strong today with Ryan Seacrest hosting. The three hour show counted down the Top 40 hits of the nation, the best-selling and most-played songs from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from Canada to Mexico. 

7. MAMA TOLD ME NOT TO COME by Three Dog Night

#1 THIS WEEK in 1970: The #1 song in the US on the debut of American Top 40. Written by Randy Newman.

8. NEVER TEAR US APART by Joe Cocker

THIS WEEK in 2002: One of the best voices to come out of the 60's covers one of the best songs to come out of the 80's. Joe Cocker's version of INXS' "Never Tear Us Apart" from his long player, Respect Yourself.

9. LOVE WILL TEAR US APART by Joy Division

The timeless classic came out just a month prior to singer Ian Curtis' untimely death. Often listed as one of the best 45's of all time.

THIS WEEK in 1982: The debut Long Player from Talk Talk, The Party's Over.

12. YOU'LL ALWAYS FIND ME IN THE KITCHEN AT PARTIES by Jona Lewie

THIS WEEK in 1980: The New Wave classic on Stiff Records.

13. MEDLEY: BALLAD OF JOHN & YOKO by James Last

The German Big-Band Orchestra with Strings and Pop-Rock Quartet covers the Beatles classic. From the Long Player, Non-Stop Dancing 9 in 1969.

14. BALLAD OF JOHN & YOKO by The Beatles

THIS WEEK in 1969: Over 100 Top 40 Stations in the U.S. ban the Beatles hit for it's lyrical content; the repetitive use of the words, "Christ" and "Crucify". Sited as a filthy piece of pornographic, sacrilegeous blasphemy. #1 in the UK.

15. SUPERMAN by R.E.M.

THIS WEEK in 2011: The remastered two disc box set of the 1986 classic, Life's Rich Pageant. R.E.M. cover The Clique 60's garage rocker. 

16. GOD ONLY KNOWS by The Beach Boys

THIS WEEK in 1966: From the all-time classic, Pet Sounds. Released as the B-side to "Wouldn't It Be Nice" in the US. Released as an A-side in the UK.

New York's Jesse Malin actually released two Long Players this callender year, Outsiders, and this tracks from New York Before The War.

The Replacements had a very successful reunion tour this year. True to his unexpected form Paul Westerberg does NOT record a new album but joins up for a new project with Juliana Hatfield, called The I Don't Cares. First single 1/2 2 P from their new Long Player coming out in the new year.

New Order's tenth Long Player Music Complete. Their first without founding member bassist Peter Hook. This album track features the velvet tones of Mr. Iggy Pop.

Debut single from ex Keith member Oli Bayston.

FADE AWAY by Susanne Sundfør
From Oslo, Norway. This is from her sixth Long Player Ten Love Songs.

THIS COULD BE US by Prince
Minneapolis boy wonder Prince, from his 38th (!!) Long Player HITnRUN (Phase One). Just as the show was going to air, Prince released HITnRUN (Phase Two)! This is a re-recording/re-working of the same track from his album of last year, Art Official Age.
